The nautical term “shakedown cruise” refers to a short range voyage that is taken by any new, or newly refurbished ship, with the purpose of validating the integrity and functionality of the vessel. Throughout this cruise, crew attempt to simulate all normal operating procedures, as well as some that are extreme. For example: during the shakedown cruise for a luxury cruise ship, it’s common for passengers on a given deck to all flush their toilets at the same time. This is important to ensure that the plumbing for the ship was engineered and implemented properly to handle anything that’s thrown at it. Opening and closing doors, turning lights on and off, jumping on beds; a thorough shakedown cruise is the crucial last step to ensure a successful maiden voyage for a ship.
With this in mind, the Nimble AMS Winter ‘15 Release has been engineered, implemented, and tested; now it’s time for the shakedown cruise. To do this, a subset of clients have volunteered to have the Nimble AMS Winter ‘15 Release Preview installed in their Staging environments during a Preview period. During this time, those involved have been encouraged to enable and use new features, use existing features, and ensure that documentation is thorough and complete. Once the preview period is over, we will all join in the fanfare as the Nimble AMS Winter ‘15 Release is sent out on it’s maiden voyage, as we all embark together.
As with everything else in Nimble AMS; it could not have been conceptualized, engineered, implemented, or validated without the help of you; our clients and partners. You constantly share great ideas, ask pertinent questions, and challenge us to be better. Our clients keep us nimble, and with their help, we will ensure that the Nimble AMS Winter ‘15 Release is in tiptop shape.
